Characteristics

Sherwin-Williams H&C Shield-Crete is a two-component, low-volatile organic compound (VOC) epoxy coating designed for long-lasting protection of indoor and outdoor concrete surfaces.

Contents: The kit consists of Cleaner/Degreaser, Part “A” and Part “B” (resin), decorative chips and anti-slip additive.

Properties:

  • Easy to apply with minimal surface preparation
  • Thanks to the solvent-free formula, it is easy to clean with soap and water
  • Resistant to many chemicals, stronger than most industrial coatings
  • Resistant to chemical attack from gasoline, brake fluid, accumulated water and battery acid

Recommended for Coloring:

  • Garage floors
  • Basement floors
  • Laundries
  • Storage locations
  • Patios and landings
  • Floors in warehouses
  • Floors in non-residential buildings

ShieldCrete can be applied in two ways: without adding chips (to create a colored covering coating) or with the addition of chips (to create a decorative “stone-like” effect).

Surface preparation

ATTENTION! Removing old paint by sanding, scraping, or other means may create lead-containing dust or fumes. Exposure to lead dust or fumes can cause brain damage or other health hazards, especially in children and pregnant women. To protect against exposure to lead and other hazardous substances, you must use appropriate protective equipment, such as a properly fitted respirator (NIOSH certified in the United States), and take proper precautions and cleaning procedures. In the United States, additional information can be obtained from the National Lead Information Center at 1-800-424-LEAD or from your local health authority.

Follow complete surface preparation instructions. Some surfaces may require special treatment.

Unpainted Concrete:

Freshly placed concrete must be cured for min. 28 days. The surface must be clean and dry. Fat and oil contamination must be removed. Remove mold or mildew by cleaning with a solution of 1 cup household bleach and 1 gallon of water.

Repair:

To ensure optimal water resistance on vertical concrete and stone/brickwork surfaces, treat all cracks and gaps where water may seep in with H&CQuickPatchandRepair. Sealing materials are usually visible through transparent coatings.

Complete polymerization occurs after 14 days.
