coolant capacity TOYOTA CAMRY 2012 XV50

Contents of the material

When is a cooler replacement required?

The frequency of scheduled fluid replacement depends on the service life indicated on the packaging. If for any reason the Toyota Camry antifreeze runs out much faster, an early top-up or replacement is carried out.

Signs of unsuitable coolant:

  1. Formation of a jelly-like mass on the expansion tank.
  2. With slight frosts, the substance becomes mushy or a precipitate forms.
  3. The cooler fan operates more often than usual.
  4. Fluid contamination is determined visually.
  5. Forced need to top up the system with water.

Repair equipment

To carry out maintenance you will need:

  • LLC or SLLC concentrate (the volume depends on the capacity of the cooling system, taking into account the dilution of the material with water in a ratio of 1:1);
  • deionized water for preparing antifreeze;
  • distilled water for flushing (the volume depends on the capacity of the radiators and the number of cleaning cycles);
  • a special reagent for removing deposits from the internal surface of pipelines;
  • containers for collecting waste material;
  • a rag for wiping spilled solution and removing traces of dirt from plugs and drain taps.

Instructions for replacing coolant

One of the main points in replacing antifreeze is the choice of the product itself. You shouldn’t skimp on this. The cost of high-quality refrigerant is from 1,500 rubles and more per 10 liters. When purchasing you should pay attention to:

  • color, it must match the car. Preference is given to red liquids;
  • freezing temperature, it should not be higher than (-40 C) – (-60 C);
  • country of origin. Of course, it is recommended to buy Japanese products. At the moment it is the highest quality;
  • antifreeze class. There are several classes: G11, G12, G13. Their distinguishing feature is the service life of the antifreeze.

You can replace antifreeze on a Toyota Camry at a car dealership or do it yourself. If you decide to change it in the salon, then take care of choosing and purchasing antifreeze yourself to be sure of the quality of the product. If you decide to change the refrigerant yourself, then first read the manufacturer’s instructions and take into account all safety precautions, cool the machine before changing, put on a work uniform and gloves. So, you will need 25 liters of water, 6 liters of antifreeze and a tray. The composition of the refrigerant should also be taken into account. There are ready-made cooling liquids. And there are concentrates. To dilute the concentrate, you must strictly follow the instructions for use on the packaging; most often it is diluted in a ratio of 50×50.

Sequencing:

  • Open the cap on the radiator and expansion tank;
  • Install the pan under the engine and radiator;
  • Unscrew the valves on the radiator and cylinder block, drain the antifreeze from the Toyota tank into the pan;
  • Close the valves back;
  • Flush the cooling system with water. Pour 5 liters of water into the radiator. Close the radiator and expansion tank caps. Start the car, press the gas pedal and warm up the engine until the fan comes on;
  • Turn off the engine and drain the fluid, wait until the engine cools down;
  • Repeat the procedure until the poured water becomes clear;
  • Pour new fluid into the radiator with the engine cool. Start the car and operate the pedal until all air leaves the system. In Toyota Camry, the air comes out on its own;
  • Then pour antifreeze for Toyota Camry into the expansion tank to the special mark;
  • Close all covers. Remove the tray.

Coolant replacement frequency

The factory-filled Toyota Super Long Life Coolant fluid is designed for 160 thousand km or 5 years of operation, subsequent replacements are made every 80 thousand km or 3 years. If the cooling system is filled with Toyota Long Life Coolant material, then initial and subsequent maintenance is performed after 40 thousand km or after 3 years.

Early replacement is carried out if foreign impurities (for example, motor oil) get into the solution or when performing repair work (for example, when replacing a broken radiator or a damaged pump).

Self-replacement

Replacing antifreeze on a Toyota Camry V40 is not particularly difficult. First of all, you need to install a tray under the engine and radiator; the waste mixture will drain into it. The drain cap on the radiator is opened and the plug is twisted. Then you need to unscrew the drain plugs located on the radiator and cylinder block to allow the contents to drain completely. After this, all the plugs are tightened, and the antifreeze used is poured in as much as required up to the maximum mark. Typically, a Camry V50 can use about 4.5–5 liters. This is considered normal for this model.
