What has changed on the outside of the updated Hyundai Tussan?
Well, let’s look at what has changed on the outside and we’ll start from the front. What immediately catches your eye when you look at a new tussant?
Updated Tussant, front view
Probably the only thing that catches the eye of most of us is the radiator grille, which has acquired a slightly modified appearance. Well, at a quick glance at the car, when looking at a car in a stream, 90 – 95% of people will not understand at all that this is an updated Tussan 2018, because there are no fundamental changes and they are only noticeable upon close examination. Well, in order to clearly see what I’m saying, and not just taking some things out of the blue. I’ll go to the guys from Hyundai and take the previous Tussan and we’ll compare them visually.

Now it will be clearer and easier to identify and find changes in the updated tussant, compared to the previous one. Just as they say, find 10 differences. Well, let’s take a look – there are actually not many changes and they are not very significant.
The first change concerns the bumper, which perhaps not everyone will notice, because they are quite tiny, which are shown in red in the photo below.
Minor changes to the front of the updated Tussant
The lower lip of the bumper has been shredded, and now the new Tucson has it in a different color. The part where our foglights are located has also changed. This is where all the changes to the bumper come to an end and otherwise it is identical to the old one.
Next, we changed the LED running lights, in the pre-restyling Tussan they were striped, in the restyled Tussan they are L-shaped.
The radiator grille has undergone changes and acquired a corporate style, noticeable on the Solaris and Santa Fe.
The side lights have also changed; now we also have them L-shaped.
The shape of the running lights has changed
It’s generally difficult to tell from the top headlights that they have changed, because… These are old headlights in a slightly modified form, the difference is very difficult to notice and the structure, content and execution procedure are identical. And in my humble subjective opinion, I think that this is a huge disadvantage in that it is practically indistinguishable from the old one, neither in traffic, nor when a person gets closer, because the majority simply will not notice the difference, they simply will not pay attention to it. But if we are talking about the maximum configuration, where completely different upper headlights are installed, and for these headlights, as I understand it, this entire design was redone.
LED headlights in the maximum configuration of the updated Tussan
And for me, it actually remains a mystery why the main feature is the main highlight, what should make the car stand out from the stream and all competitors, what should attract customers, what is the business card on all commercials, headlights, which in the modern world are an integral part of the design – they are installed only in the maximum configuration, and in the rest they install old headlights and thereby spoil everything. This is basically all the changes to the front of the car.
And we can move to the rear, passing the side of the car, which has not undergone any changes. Apart from the gas tank flap, on the previous Tussan it was round, on the new one it is oval.
Comparison of new and old Tussans. Back view
The rear has changed exactly as much as the front has changed, i.e. for a little bit. The bumper has changed again just a little, we generally have a three-color, sandwich type, light gray, black and already the body color, in the previous one it was so solid and simple.
You can also pay attention to the exhaust pipe deflectors, but there is an interesting story with them, which is that not all trim levels have them. For example, in the maximum configuration of the previous version of the Tussan (which you see in the photo on the right) and in the maximum configuration of the Tussan after restyling, these deflectors are missing.
Next, we changed the trunk lid in the license plate area, and we also added reflectors here. The rear foglights have moved to the lower part of the upper headlight. In the area of the Hyundai badge, we now have a dimple and a ridge that was not present in the previous model.
Well, of course the headlights have undergone a slight change. For some reason, rear diode headlights are available only in the maximum configuration, while everyone else will be content with new taillights, but with conventional halogen bulbs. That’s basically all the changes at the back.
Well, let’s take a look under the hood.
Under the hood of the updated Tussan
Please note that after the restyling of the Tussant, the poker has not gone away. Apparently, the tussan has not yet reached the level where shock absorbers will be installed on it. If you, like me, are bothered by this poker, I advise you to install it yourself tussan hood shock absorbersfortunately, the article outlines step-by-step actions with photographic materials, and also provides the current article number of gas struts.
Should we expect changes under the hood? No. Three engines will be available, a two-liter gasoline 155 hp, a 1.6 turbocharged 177 hp. and two liter diesel 185 hp. In this particular model, we have a two-liter diesel engine, which was installed on previous Tussans, but now this two-liter diesel engine will be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and not six, as was the case again before.
Well friends, let’s sum it up regarding updated Tussant. Prices for it start from 24 thousand dollars and end at 40 thousand dollars. I think that the Koreans were still successful in restyling and the minor changes that they made to the car both outside and inside – they modernized it, made it more premium in some places, and in some more youthful and aggressive, which is good news and differentiate it from your competitors. As for me, if I were to buy myself a new Tussan, I would do it exclusively in the maximum configuration, because with the old headlights, the innovations that the Koreans put into the new Tussan would not be interesting for me.

Changes in the interior of Hyundai Tucson III Restyling
There are much more changes inside, at least they are perceived more sharply than external ones. Here the architecture of the front panel was completely revised and Asian motifs were almost completely abandoned:
- The most noticeable innovation is the location of the multimedia touch screen measuring 7 or 8 inches, depending on the configuration. Now it rises above the front panel, rather than being built into it, and function control buttons are placed on the sides
- the central air duct deflectors no longer look like “wings” of the monitor – they are placed under the screen
- in older trim levels, starting with Dynamic, the front panel is covered with leatherette, and the seats have a combination of leatherette and genuine leather upholstery
- The keys on the central tunnel were reassembled, but there were no major changes.
The interior of the facelifted Hyundai Tucson III is more refined and spacious than its predecessor. High-quality materials: the interior and steering wheel are covered in leather, the door panels have a soft plastic finish. More legroom and a spacious cargo compartment are the advantages of the restyled model. It is also equipped with advanced safety technologies:
- automatic emergency braking
- blind spot monitoring
- descent assist system
- anti-traction system (ASR)
- lane departure warning.
The updated Tucson has many features:
- cooled glove box
- climate control 2-zone
- driving mode selection system
- front and rear parking sensors
- Brake assistance system (BAS, EBD).
Exterior
Hyundai Tussan 2018 is made in the modern style of the company, the new generation body looks more expressive and attractive. The key points include:
- Chromed radiator grille.
- Narrowed head optics, in the manufacture of which a combination of diodes and lenses is used.
- The lower part is represented by a combination of plastic protection and small air intakes.
- The roof slopes down slightly towards the rear of the car. Due to this, the degree of streamlining of the body is significantly increased and air resistance is reduced.
- The rear part is made in a minimalist style, the lights are small, and the bumper is plastic.
The new offer from the South Korean automaker looks very attractive. The style is complemented by a spoiler, which is designed as an extension of the roof. You can find a brush on the rear window; the bumper design has built-in exhaust pipes.
Typical faults of Hyundai Tucson III Restyling
There are no serious complaints about the Hyundai Tucson. The only thing that can be noted is that sound insulation is not a strong point of this car. Sizing ShVI can help improve this indicator.
Owners are faced with different problems at different mileages: some drive up to 50 thousand km without breakdowns and only maintain the car, others at lower mileage changed sensors, chassis parts, eliminated automatic transmission knocks and struggled with excessive consumption of antifreeze. However, the Hyundai Tussan does not have a problem that would be widespread.
Many people note a weak windshield – a small flying stone leaves a chip.
Gearboxes, apart from the robot, raise a minimum of questions and operating nuances.
Suspension life directly depends on driving style. For very careful drivers, the Tussan chassis will last 80-100 thousand km without repairs, but for most, at 50-70 thousand km, shock absorbers, wheel bearings, and balls need to be replaced. The steering rack may also require repairs for this mileage.
However, the crossover still does not have any major, critical problems or weaknesses.
