Porsche Taycan Turbo S design
The exterior of the electric car, completely created from scratch by the company’s engineers, was still able to retain the appearance inherent in other Porsche models and familiar to many. The main differences are hidden in the squat and seemingly “spread out” body configuration along the road, which has a stunning aerodynamic profile. This had a positive effect on both the stability and dynamics of the car, and made it possible to increase the power reserve.
Inside, the new Taycan Turbo S is completely different from other cars in the Porsche family. It no longer has that sporty simplicity, but the interior space has become clearly divided and extremely functional.
The car is devoid of classic controls – wherever possible, the usual mechanical switches and keys are replaced with touch buttons. This version of the car also features an advanced voice control system that allows you to control most functions.
New headlight technology
Porsche should offer its newly developed HD LED Matrix headlights along with the new Taycan. Compared to the current specification, the new lighting system is twice as bright and four times wider. Consisting of two LED chips (four in total), each chip contains 16,384 individually controllable micro-LEDs that occupy an area equivalent to the size of a person’s thumbnail. Individual pixels can be switched on or off depending on conditions, making the high-definition system extremely energy efficient.
Porsche says it has developed the world’s first high-resolution LED matrix headlight, which will be progressively implemented across different vehicle lines using the same modular technology but with a tailored design.
When needed, the high beam feature can illuminate the road up to 600 meters (1,968 feet) in front of the vehicle, as well as block certain parts of the beam if the system detects oncoming traffic. Porsche has included many other driver-assist features in these LED headlights. These different but useful technologies include narrow lane design and lighting, lane lighting and the aforementioned adaptive high beam function.
Recent spy photos have revealed that Porsche has begun testing the new Taycan with HD Matrix LED headlights. It’s safe to assume that even the new Taycan Cross Turismo and new Taycan Sport Turismo will inherit HD Matrix LED headlights. In fact, we’ve seen the company test the former with the new technology.
